Baseball Recap: MacArthur Comes Up Short

MacArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against the Springfield Southeast Spartans, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Wednesday.

Luke Karunas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits. He also put up a home run, which was his first of the season.

At the plate, Sean Abraham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Zion Bradford was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

MacArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Springfield Southeast, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. MacArthur will head out to take on Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springfield Southeast, they will venture away from home to square off against Springfield at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Senators at the right time seeing as the Senators are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
