Baseball Game Preview: LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls vs. Clewiston Tigers

The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls will venture away from home to challenge the Clewiston Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. LaBelle will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

LaBelle took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Mariner, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. LaBelle had just enough and edged out Mariner 7-5.

Beau Collier was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ty Murray was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Elijah Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Clewiston's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lake Placid on Tuesday. Clewiston came out on top against Avon Park by a score of 4-0.

LaBelle pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clewiston, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

LaBelle came out on top in a nail-biter against Clewiston when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaBelle since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
