Softball Recap: Franklin Pierce Beats Washington for Their Sixth Straight Win

Franklin Pierce won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cardinals walked away with a 7-3 win over the Patriots. The victory was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on six straight.

Leila Kennach was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiley Sledge, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Laneigha Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles.
