Softball Recap: Russellville Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Russellville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Siloam Springs Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cyclones have posted since April 15, 2024.

Abigail Blythe spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Aribella Garcia was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

The victory got Russellville back to even at 3-3. As for Siloam Springs, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Russellville will challenge Carlisle at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Siloam Springs, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on April 1. Harrison has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something Siloam Springs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
