Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Vikings vs. Ionia Bulldogs

Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Ionia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lakewood Vikings will host the Ionia Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Lakewood will be strutting in after a victory while Ionia will be coming in after a defeat.

Lakewood took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 win over Olivet. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since January 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ionia ended up a good deal behind Lansing Catholic on Tuesday and lost 55-38. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Ionia and nudges their season record down to 11-10. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.
