Baseball Recap: Riverdale's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sierra, Riverdale was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Laton Mustangs a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

LUKE CHURCH made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Riverdale got a big performance out of Catarino Garcia, who scored two runs and stole two bases. Riverdale is undefeated when Garcia posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was CHARLIE COX, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Riverdale moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Laton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Riverdale will face off against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Laton, they will square off against Tranquillity at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
