Basketball Recap: Rutland Comes Up Short

Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morgan County Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 151st).

Morgan County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zeki Locus, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and six assists. Locus is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Simmons, who scored nine points.

Rutland's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Morgan County, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Rutland has already played their next game (against Pike County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Morgan County will host Callaway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
