Volleyball Recap: Ridgecroft's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Ridgecroft unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Halifax Academy Vikings, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 3rd.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-10, 25-17.

Klaire Cherry paced Ridgecroft's offense, picking up five kills. Cherry got some help from Lacey Berryman and her four assists. Cherry was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Halifax Academy can attribute much of their success to Payton Odom, who had 24 assists and three aces. Odom is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. Emma Inscoe was another key player, getting five aces.

Ridgecroft's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Halifax Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Ridgecroft has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Southampton on the 29th. As for Halifax Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Kerr-Vance Academy on the 30th.
