Basketball Recap: McGavock Takes a Loss

McGavock has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.55 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Mount Juliet Golden Bears, falling 66-45. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Golden Bears are ranked 90th).

McGavock has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points on average over those games. The win (which was Mount Juliet's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

McGavock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mount Juliet, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-45 victory against Antioch on the 28th.
