Recap: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Southern Alamance Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastern Alamance and snuck past 67-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Tyler Moore, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Moore, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Jordan Matthews and Ja'vier Tinnin certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Matthews scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Tinnin scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthews has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reaves, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eastern Alamance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Alamance only pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Southern Alamance has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Eastern Alamance, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Alamance will square off against Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Alamance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Southern Alamance is ranked 204th). As for Eastern Alamance, they will head out on the road to square off against Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
