Softball Game Preview: Dedham Marauders vs. Norwood Mustangs

The Dedham Marauders will venture away from home to face off against the Norwood Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dedham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

While Dedham didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Ashland on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Clockers: they've now won eight in a row.

Julia Walsh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Joslyn Roberts was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Megan McNamara, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Dedham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.6.

Meanwhile, Norwood came up short against Medfield on Tuesday, falling 15-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Norwood now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Dedham, their record now sits at 6-4.

Dedham couldn't quite get it done against Norwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
