Recap: Yazoo City Indians vs. Greenville Hornets
This season hasn't been kind to The Yazoo City Indians, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a serious blow against Greenville on Friday, falling 34-6. That's two games in a row now that Yazoo City has lost by exactly 28 points.
Michael Hodges was a one-man wrecking crew for Greenville as he rushed for 230 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Kaleb Titus was in the mix as well, providing Greenville with two touchdowns.
Yazoo City's defeat was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Holmes County Central and 12-1 Jackson Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.9% over those games). As for Greenville, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yazoo City will take on Cleveland Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cleveland Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yazoo City in Mississippi (Cleveland Central is ranked 63rd, while Yazoo City is ranked 231st). As for Greenville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gentry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
