Basketball Recap: Surry Central Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Surry, Surry Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 68-60 win over the East Surry Cardinals. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 74-61 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Surry Central was led to victory by Tripp Mcmillen and Jax Whitaker. Mcmillen went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Whitaker posted 22 points. Whitaker's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Damen Hazelwood, who went 5 for 7 en route to 10 points.

Surry Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for East Surry, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Surry Central is taking a road trip to challenge West Wilkes at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Surry, they will square off against North Wilkes at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. East Surry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully North Wilkes likes a good challenge.
