Mountain Heritage had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down the Avery County Vikings 58-44 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won 14 games in a row.

Mountain Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilly Neill, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Neill is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cloey Morrow, who posted 15 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Despite the defeat, Avery County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caroline Hollifield put up 14 points and seven rebounds. Emma Clark was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mountain Heritage pushed their record up to 26-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points over those games. As for Avery County, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-8.

Looking ahead, Mountain Heritage will challenge Bishop McGuinness at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Mountain Heritage likes a good challenge. Avery County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
