The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers will square off against the Lincoln Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Buckhannon-Upshur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Buckhannon-Upshur will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Hoover on Saturday. Buckhannon-Upshur was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Hoover. The Buccaneers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Landon Marple made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Marple was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Drahden Rice was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Jevon Westfall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Buckhannon-Upshur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only posted a batting average of .136.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lincoln, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past East Fairmont 6-5.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.29 runs across that stretch. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Buckhannon-Upshur took their victory against Lincoln when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. Does Buckhannon-Upshur have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lincoln turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
