Baseball Recap: Germantown Comes Up Short

Germantown had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Fayette Ware Wildcats, falling 15-9. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Germantown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Valles, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Valles' first of the season. Jaden Lee was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

As for Fayette Ware, their record now sits at 4-6. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Fayette Ware's side, Tucker Burch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Burch has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner McDade, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Steve Hall, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Germantown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against Memphis Central on the 9th. As for Fayette Ware, they have also already played their next game, a 15-4 loss against Middleton on the 10th.
