Softball Game Preview: Matoaca Warriors vs. Franklin County Eagles

The Matoaca Warriors will take on the Franklin County Eagles on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Matoaca sitting on 17 straight victories and Franklin County on four.

Matoaca is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Glen Allen get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Give the Warriors' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's ninth straight shutout.

Glen Allen's batters probably weren't too happy with Kaylee Hodges, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Hodges has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single earned run in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tori Ankiel was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Franklin County made easy work of Prince George on Friday and carried off a 10-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Franklin County's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Matoaca, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1.
