Basketball Recap: Manzano Extends Winning Streak to Three

Manzano waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They secured a 46-41 W over the Santa Fe Demons. The Monarchs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Demons, too.

Manzano got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianna Largo out in front who posted eight points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Zaria Gomez, who put up seven points along with ten rebounds and eight steals.

Manzano has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Santa Fe, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzano will venture away from home to face off against Sandia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sandia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Santa Fe, they will head out to challenge Eldorado at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
