Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Comes Up Short

Fort Wayne Wayne extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Fort Wayne Snider Panthers. The Generals were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Fort Wayne Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faith Couture, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Fort Wayne Snider, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Fort Wayne Snider's side, Makayla Stone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Stone has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ella Houser was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gabrielle O'Neill was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Fort Wayne Wayne has already played their next contest, an 18-0 defeat against Whitko on the 8th. As for Fort Wayne Snider, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Homestead on the 8th.
