Basketball Recap: Monarch Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Monarch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 42-34 victory over the Spanish River Sharks. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Monarch can attribute much of their success to Nikyle Campbell, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Campbell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney Lewinsky, who posted three points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Spanish River still got an impressive performance from Julius Coffey, who scored 14 points. Eddy Lui was another key player, putting up eight points.

Monarch's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Spanish River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Monarch has already played their next match, a 77-47 win against Hollywood Hills on the 14th. As for Spanish River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-51 victory against Seminole Ridge on the 15th.
