Baseball Game Preview: Mounds Park Academy Panthers vs. Breck Mustangs

Mounds Park Academy hasn't had much luck against Breck recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Mounds Park Academy might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to Minnehaha Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Mounds Park Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layton Betzold, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Breck fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Blake on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 7-6. On the bright side, the six- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring contest to date.

Mounds Park Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Breck, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Mounds Park Academy might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Breck in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
