Football Recap: Santa Ana Valley Takes a Loss

Santa Ana Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5-1. They were outmatched by the Calvary Chapel Eagles and fell 42-14. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-6.

Fern Dircio and Eduardo Vivas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dircio rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown, while Vivas rushed for 80 yards on only ten carries. That rushing touchdown was Dircio's first of the season.

As for Calvary Chapel, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.8 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvary Chapel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colin Wiles, who threw for 228 yards and four TDs. Daniel Nieves was Wiles' top target, picking up 96 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Ana Valley will welcome Ocean View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Falcons' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Calvary Chapel, they will host Estancia at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Estancia will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
