It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Rock Canyon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Cherokee Trail Cougars 7-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jaguars also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Will Wendeborn led a balanced Jaguars bullpen and tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Wendeborn posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colton Duman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

The victory got Rock Canyon back to even at 1-1. As for Cherokee Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Rock Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-5 loss against Boulder Creek on the 17th. As for Cherokee Trail, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Eaglecrest on the 14th.
