Softball Recap: West Springfield Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

West Springfield got themselves on the board against Robinson on Wednesday, but Robinson never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Spartans have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Robinson's batters probably weren't too happy with Andrea Yagui, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up two walks). Yagui has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elaina Primozic, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Middendorf, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

West Springfield's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Robinson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

West Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-3 victory against Alexandria City on the 8th. As for Robinson, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against West Potomac at 12:00 p.m. The Rams' pitcher better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
