Baseball Recap: Hulbert Find Success

Hulbert barely beat Oaks-Mission the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hulbert's pitcher stepped up to hand Oaks-Mission an 8-0 shutout on Monday. The Riders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Logan Beeler was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ethan Thompson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Weston Jenkins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Hulbert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oaks-Mission only posted a batting average of .067.

Hulbert's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Oaks-Mission, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Hulbert will face off against Haskell at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oaks-Mission, they will take on Cave Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
