Basketball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes lost against Sotomayor back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Huskies came up short against the WILDCATS, falling 55-31. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

Loss or not, Holmes got some senior leadership from Theresa Caravlho and Dreanne Garcia. Caravlho dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Garcia posted ten points and six steals. Caravlho is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Holmes has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Sotomayor, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holmes will challenge rival Harlan at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sotomayor is set to take on their familiar foe Stevens at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
