Basketball Recap: De Soto Gets the Win

If La Farge/Youth Initiative wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played De Soto, they should've done a better job of containing Kylee Venner. The De Soto Pirates claimed a resounding 70-13 victory over La Farge/Youth Initiative thanks in part to Venner, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of De Soto's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sascha Doll, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Those 13 points gave her a new career-high.

De Soto now has a winning record of 4-3. As for La Farge/Youth Initiative, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, De Soto and New Lisbon will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. De Soto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for La Farge/Youth Initiative, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverdale at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd.
