Baseball Game Preview: Walton Braves vs. Northview Chiefs

The Walton Braves will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Northview Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Northview took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Walton, who comes in off a win.

Walton is headed out to face Northview after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Walton came out on top against Rutherford by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Colten Nelson and Timmy Busby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Nelson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Busby didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. At the plate, Nelson scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Busby went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Busby a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Rhodes, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI. Warren Godwin was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rutherford only posted an OBP of .192.

Meanwhile, while it was Northview who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was Milton who put up more. Northview lost 11-5 to Milton. While the Chiefs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 5-0 in the first period.

Northview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden White, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
