Softball Game Preview: Polk County Wolverines vs. Patton Panthers

For the second straight game, Polk County will face off against Patton. The Wolverines will head out to square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Polk County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Polk County and Patton, and Polk County kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines skirted past the Panthers 3-1.

Polk County's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Vitale, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Vitale has posted since back in February.

Polk County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Patton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
