Basketball Game Preview: Hernando Tigers vs. Southaven Chargers

Hernando is 1-9 against Southaven since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hernando Tigers will take on the Southaven Chargers at 7:30 p.m.

Hernando is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 87-44 loss at the hands of Horn Lake. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Eagles are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Southaven didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Oxford on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 66-62 win.

Southaven's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Hernando, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Hernando came up short against Southaven in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 53-45. Can Hernando avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
