Preview: Sho-Ban Chiefs vs. Mackay Miners
The Sho-Ban Chiefs will head out on the road to challenge the Mackay Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Sho-Ban is ranked 121st, while Mackay is ranked 129th).
Last Tuesday, Sho-Ban came up short against North Gem and fell 48-38.
Meanwhile, Mackay scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They secured a 61-55 W over North Gem. The victory was familiar territory for Mackay who now have three in a row.
Ruger Nicholls was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaizer Summers, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Sho-Ban's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mackay, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Sho-Ban came up short against Mackay in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 57-45. Can Sho-Ban avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
