Baseball Game Preview: Shorecrest Scots vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks

The Shorecrest Scots will square off against the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marysville-Pilchuck took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Shorecrest, who comes in off a win.

Shorecrest took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Shorewood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Scots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Stormrays on Friday.

David Telling was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Shorecrest is undefeated when Telling allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Telling was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Telling wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Koen Ekstrom, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Elyas Rojas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Marysville-Pilchuck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 7-3 to Granite Falls. On the bright side, the three- run effort marked the Tomahawks' highest-scoring contest to date.

Marysville-Pilchuck's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Shorecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Shorecrest's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Scots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game.
