Baseball Game Preview: Broaddus Bulldogs vs. Centerville Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Broaddus will face off against Centerville. Broaddus will take on Centerville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Broaddus has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Broaddus is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Centerville just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Centerville, falling 14-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Broaddus has suffered since February 21st.

For Centerville's part, Kolt Larsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Larsen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Centerville got a massive performance out of Jake Slaten, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Slaten has posted since back in March. Hardy Brown was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

The victory (which was Centerville's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Broaddus, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Broaddus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like Centerville struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
