Mission Trail (8 Man) recap October 22, 2013

Woodside Priory was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Trinity Christian. The Panthers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.

Woodside Priory extended the longest winning streak in Mission Trail (8 Man) this week by beating the Warriors, 58-52. The victory was the sixth in a row for Doug Sargent's team.

Anzar's dynamic duo of Sam Jimenez and Victor Flores proved to be unstoppable against Crystal Springs Uplands, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jimenez threw for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns and Flores had 85 yards receiving. Gareth McCormick helped Anzar's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 38 yards.

James McDaniel was a passing and rushing force as the Panthers beat Trinity Christian. McDaniel's key target this week was Tom Latta, who caught 2 passes for 23 yards.

McDaniel was a force in the backfield as Woodside Priory defeated Frank Leonard's team.

Gabe Bautista made the biggest impact on defense this week as Alma Heights Christian bested Stuart Hall. The 5-foot-7 senior recorded 2 fumbles and racked up 1 sack.

The Warriors' Micheal Alcaraz and Matt Novak led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Alcaraz has thrown for 1,288 yards this season, while Novak has 27 catches for 479 yards. McDaniel from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 687 yards.

The Eagles are in fourth place, while Pinewood is in third place.

The Gryphons fell to the Hawks 74-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
