Basketball Game Preview: Anderson Christian Lions vs. Cambridge Academy Cougars

The Anderson Christian Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Cambridge Academy Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Anderson Christian will be strutting in after a win while Cambridge Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Anderson Christian will bounce into Friday's game after beating Temple Christian Academy, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Lions pulled ahead with a 50-49 photo finish over the Warriors on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Warriors on their court since November 14, 2022.

Meanwhile, Cambridge Academy lost to Laurens Academy on the road by a 52-36 margin last Monday. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 16-5 in the first quarter.

Anderson Christian will need to focus on slowing down Andrew Wiley, one of several Cambridge Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. Wiley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 19 games he's played dating back to last season. Elisha Southerland was another key player, shooting 56% from the field en route to 13 points and three steals.

Cambridge Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Anderson Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Anderson Christian strolled past Cambridge Academy in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 63-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Wiley, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 15 boards.
