Baseball Recap: Legacy Charter Victorious

Legacy Charter's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Wekiva Mustangs. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 7-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ryan Rushing made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chani Abreu, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jake Threadgill was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

The win got Legacy Charter back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy Charter will welcome Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wekiva, they will be playing at home against Circle Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
