Basketball Recap: Cambridge Has No Trouble Against South Loup

Cambridge hadn't done well against South Loup recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans strolled past South Loup with points to spare, taking the game 66-51. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 62-48 victory South Loup walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Cambridge had a senior duo take command as Brady Ahlemeyer shot 43% from the field en route to 27 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds and Hodge Raburn dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ahlemeyer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Miller, who posted eight points and five boards.

Cambridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

South Loup lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Malachi Neth, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Dylan Pandorf was another key player, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 15 points along with six boards and five steals.

The win got Cambridge back to even at 2-2. As for South Loup, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Cambridge will head out on the road to square off against Cozad at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Haymakers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for South Loup, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-58 defeat against Pleasanton on the 13th.
