Baseball Game Preview: Leicester Wolverines vs. Auburn Rockets

Leicester is 2-8 against Auburn since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wolverines will host the Rockets at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

Leicester barely beat Douglas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines came out on top against the Tigers on Friday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Wolverines' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Auburn strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Grafton with a sharp 8-1 victory. Considering the Rockets have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Everson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cameron McLaughlin, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Kyle McLaughlin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Auburn's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Leicester, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
