Baseball Recap: Catholic Memorial's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Catholic Memorial). They came out on top against the Waukesha South Blackshirts by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crusaders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Cal Weber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Catholic Memorial got a big performance out of Jesse Sobczak, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Sobczak also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ian Kawczynski, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Catholic Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win snapped Catholic Memorial's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Waukesha South, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Looking ahead, Catholic Memorial will face off against Sheboygan North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders are facing the Golden Raiders at the right time seeing as the Golden Raiders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Waukesha South, they will square off against South Milwaukee at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blackshirts will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Rockets will have lost three straight heading into Wednesday's game.
