Canyon Springs is 8-2 against Rancho Verde since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Canyon Springs will be playing at home against Rancho Verde at 3:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Canyon Springs was handed a 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Ramona 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 4th.
Colin Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Canyon Springs saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Wimsatt, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Wimsatt a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Rancho Verde waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 9-5. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Markus Villalvazo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.
On the hitting side, Jacob Cabral was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Uriah Celestine, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Rancho Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista del Lago struck out ten times.
Rancho Verde's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Canyon Springs, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Canyon Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Rancho Verde in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, winning 7-3. Does Canyon Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rancho Verde turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
