Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Bison vs. Bolivar Liberators

Buffalo is 1-8 against Bolivar since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Buffalo will head out to square off against Bolivar at 4:30 p.m.

Buffalo is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 27th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Mt. Vernon.

Meanwhile, Bolivar is still undefeated this season after their match against Hillcrest on Thursday, but Hillcrest came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bolivar came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Hillcrest. While the Liberators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Garretson Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brant Sawyers was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Bolivar's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Buffalo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Buffalo might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Bolivar in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Buffalo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
