Middletown South gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Monmouth Regional Falcons 2-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Riley Smith's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks.
On the hitting side, Nora Sarcone was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Middletown South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Matawan Regional on the 2nd. Monmouth Regional has also already played their next game (against Holmdel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
