Recap: Marina Mariners vs. Seaside Spartans
The Marina Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 75-47 blowout they got on the road against Seaside. Given Marina's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Seaside is ranked 727th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marina was led to victory by Jordan Bonnard Webb and Julius Robinson. Bonnard Webb scored 23 points, while Robinson scored 26 points. The matchup was Bonnard Webb's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalik Kennedy, who scored 15 points.
Marina has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Seaside, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marina will take on Watsonville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Seaside, they will head out on the road to face off against Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
