Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Cougars vs. Perth Amboy Panthers

The Columbia Cougars will face off against the Perth Amboy Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Columbia nor Perth Amboy posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Columbia got a good showing from Oliver Ellis, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Ellis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Columbia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benji Josefsberg, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Perth Amboy lost 12-2 to Woodbridge on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Barrons: they've now lost six in a row.
