Softball Recap: Glens Falls Continues Home Dominance on Monday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Glens Falls ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Schuylerville Horses. The win was nothing new for the Black Bears as they're now sitting on four straight.

Isabella Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Stevens, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Glens Falls' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Schuylerville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glens Falls will face off against Broadalbin-Perth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Black Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Schuylerville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Amsterdam at 4:30 p.m. The Horses are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
