Basketball Recap: Verdugo Hills Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jordan Vargas and Jeffrey Moran

Verdugo Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eagle Rock Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dons of the 74-73 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.

Verdugo Hills' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jeffrey Moran, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals, and Jordan Vargas, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 23 points and six boards. Alexander Kasumyan was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Verdugo Hills' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Verdugo Hills will head out on the road to face off against Sylmar at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eagle Rock, they will challenge South East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
