Basketball Recap: Perham Comes Up Short

After flying high against Staples-Motley last Tuesday, Perham came back down to earth. The Perham Yellowjackets were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 46-45 to the Barnesville Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-60 back in January.

Perham's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Draeger, who posted three points in addition to 11 boards and four steals. Draeger has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Kaia Anderson was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Perham's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Barnesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perham will face off against Thief River Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. As for Barnesville, they will square off against Ada-Borup/Norman County West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
