Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitko). Everything went their way against the West Noble Chargers on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Addie Garr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Taylor Long and Kaylee Adkins did most of the damage at the plate: Long got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Adkins went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those stolen bases were Long's first of the season. Isabelle Harman was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Whitko always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Whitko has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for West Noble, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
