Softball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

The Warren Warriors will square off against the Belpre Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Warren is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Warren fell victim to Fort Frye and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Cadets.

Warren saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bralynn Bonnette, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Those hits were Bonnette's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Belpre posted their closest win since April 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Trimble, sneaking past 5-3.

Makayla Carmichael spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lucy Ruble was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wolfe, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Belpre now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Warren, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Warren skirted past Belpre 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
