Basketball Recap: Derby Piles Up the Points Against Valley Center

Derby won the last time they faced Valley Center and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Derby Panthers claimed a resounding 59-27 victory over the Valley Center Hornets. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 28 points or more this season.

Leading Derby to victory were Aysia Fox and Karlie Demel. Fox went 6 for 11 en route to 12 points along with five boards and four steals, while Demel went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Demel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Kelby Clingan was another key player, putting up nine points.

Derby pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Valley Center, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Derby and Valley Center should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Derby (ranked 14th) will meet Eisenhower (ranked 212th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Valley Center will challenge Haysville Campus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 164 places (95 vs. 259).
